
Carlos Andrés Baquero-Díaz
Research DirectorCarlos Andrés Baquero-Díaz is the Research Director of the NYU MOTH Program and the NYU Earth Rights Research and Action (TERRA) Program. He holds a JSD and an LLM from NYU Law, where he was a Hauser Global Scholar and recipient of the 2019 Jerome Lipper Award. His doctoral research focused on the intersection of property rights and environmental protection in tropical forests. He also earned a J.D. (cum laude) and a B.A. in Political Science from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). His work spans academic publications and public-facing formats-including podcasts and documentaries-on topics such as socio-environmental justice, property and environmental rights, and Indigenous peoples’ rights.
