During NYC Climate Week this September (23th-25th), the NYU More-Than-Human Life (MOTH) Program will host a dynamic series of events exploring rights-based environmental protection; Indigenous data sovereignty; and the role of fungi, film, and sound in reimagining human relationships with the larger living world. From a landmark declaration to powerful documentaries, each event highlights how law, science, art, and ancestral knowledge are shaping the future of more-than-human rights and relationships.

In partnership with Indigenous leaders, scientists, legal scholars, and cultural innovators, the MOTH Program invites you to join us for a week of public events that put more-than-human life at the center of environmental dialogue and action.

Highlights include hearing from the team behind the Pacific-led He Whakaputanga Moana (The Whale Protection and Legal Personhood Declaration), a workshop on Indigenous-led biodiversity data systems, two extraordinarily powerful documentary screenings, and conversations on how sound, sovereignty, and science can come together in defense of life.

Please see the posters below for more information about each event.

If you’re in New York City and would like to attend, please register via the provided links. Some events will also be available online.
